Due to the current MN State restrictions in regards to COVID-19 we have decided to cancel the MN Mentoring Ride this year.  We are sad to make this announcement and we will miss seeing all of you.

Our plans going  forward are to have the ride in June 2021 and we expect it to be a great event. We will keep you posted about where and when.

This event is our main fundraiser for our Mentoring Program at PWP and we still have a need to raise funds to maintain the program.

Would you consider helping us accomplish our goal?

Thus far we have raised about half of our $15,000 goal. To help us reach our goal, we ask you to help by making a donation of any amount and sharing this opportunity to give on social media or email.  We would like to thank our Sponsors and Donors who have already made donations to our mentoring program!

Just $100 helps provide mentoring for a child per month (this includes weekly contact, assistance with school and home behavior, and breaking the generational cycle of criminal behavior in our youth.)

We look forward to seeing you in June 2021!

Checks can also be mailed to PWP at 7111 W Broadway Suite 206, Brooklyn Park, MN 55428

The reason for our ride goes beyond our love of the open road and the thrills that await us around the next curve:  it’s kids.  Not just any kids.  Our kids, who work hard every day to be the best kids they can be despite challenges in their home lives, economic hardships, and emotional turmoil.  Funds raised through this event support Parenting With Purpose’s Mentoring program-a program for kids with a parent in prison.  PWP’s program touches each of their lives daily as we are walk side-by-side with them to overcome.  Join us as we celebrate the many advancements our kids have made because of your support and participation!

Nazir is an 11 year old boy who has been involved with PWP for 2 years.  He was chosen as the Honorary Ride Captain because he has improved immensely at school and at home in his behavior and attitude. Also because Nazir attends Overcomers regularly and is a light to those he comes in contact with. He smiles all the time and brings joy to those he’s around.

Nazir is currently awaiting a mentor and  lives in Minnetonka with is mom and little brother.

Nazir’s mom shares:  Nazir has had a strong personality since he has been born. He began talking and singing songs at a really early age. By the time that he turned 2 years old, there was no doubt that he was going to be a leader. When Nazir initially started attending school, it was an extremely challenging transition, partially because of his strong personality in the classroom and dealing with the incarceration of his father. During this time, it was extremely difficult for me as a single mother to manage things alone. A member from our church referred our family to Parenting with Purpose to get some support during a difficult time in our lives.  I reached out, went to a few meetings and enjoyed what I experienced, I’m really glad we joined.

Nazir helps a lot with his little brother Zaire and around the house.  He continues to thrive in the educational environment and was most recently nominated at his school, for citizen of the month, which is a recognition system for students exemplifying good behavior and leadership. He has become quite the athlete on the field during baseball season, enjoys playing basketball, his PS4 games, doing math exercises and being silly.

Nazir also enjoys going to the monthly Overcomer meetings because the events are fun, incorporate the word of God, and allow him to make friends with other kids and families in the same situation.
